Everyone Wants AI. But Who’s Building the Data Infrastructure?

AI may be getting the headlines, but the real work starts with people, data, and a foundation that can support it.

Everyone Wants AI. But Who's Building the Data Infrastructure?

AI is getting the headlines, the hype, and an extraordinary amount of investment. But are we putting enough resources into what actually makes it work?

For AI to really deliver, it needs something far less glamorous behind it, a strong data foundation.

According to Gartner's April 2026 research, organizations reporting successful AI projects invest up to four times more in foundational capabilities, including data quality, governance, and AI-ready talent, compared with those experiencing poor outcomes.

That says it all. If you're going to go big on AI, make sure you're investing in everything it takes to make it work.

We're seeing firsthand how important experienced Data Engineers have become, particularly in healthcare technology, where data is complex, fragmented, and highly sensitive.

Companies need professionals who can build scalable pipelines, integrate systems, manage cloud infrastructure, and ensure the data feeding these applications is accurate and reliable.

AI may be the destination, but Data Engineering is a big part of getting there.

At Elevated Hires, we spend a lot of time connecting with professionals who understand these challenges, particularly across healthcare
and modern data environments.

Here's a question for tech leaders: Are we investing as much in the people building our data foundation as we are in the AI solutions that depend on it?
